Styx of Stroud’s practice season is now underway, and we meet every Tuesday night from 7.30 to 9.30 at the Wesley Rooms in Parliament Street, Stroud (GL5 1QH). If you are interested in coming along, whether as a dancer or a musician, contact us for full details. Go on, give it a go – you know you want to.
We do have some dance-outs over the winter months, though, and are still available for bookings, so please keep checking back to see what we’re getting up to.
Sunday 1 October: Horsley Street Party organised by the Hog at Horsley (GL6 0PR), 5.30ish. Please note that the road through Horsley is closed (hence the street party), but we have been given the following instructions for access. There is an official road diversion that takes you up to the Calcott crossroads, turn right, past Hunters Hall and right past Kingscote Barn, then right by the tip and down through Horsley village. Takes an additional 10 mins. Otherwise, a really quick way is to come from Nailsworth, turn left just before the Britannia Pub, follow the road towards Shortwood, turn left into a small housing estate called Homefield, then follow the road around to Horsley, and you come out just by the pub. Takes about another 3 mins.
Saturday 21 October: Salutation Inn Apple Day (GL13 9QH). We should be there most of the afternoon, dancing and quaffing cider.
Saturday 13 January: Stroud Wassail. Around Stroud Town Centre from 11am to 4pm. The biggest morris gathering Stroud has ever known!
